Extraction Thimbles - Classification
Extraction Thimbles
The thimbles are widely used in Soxhlet extraction units, providing a safe, convenient and efficient method of solvent extraction for solids and semi-solids. Soxhlet extraction is a widely used technique for the analysis of fats or pesticides in foods and soil materials as well as in many other procedures that involve a solid-liquid extraction. The Merlin Scientific cellulose and glass microfiber extraction thimbles have high purity and good quality, and the former are often used in fat test while the later are mostly used in environmental monitoring.
Merlin Scientific offers two kinds of extraction thimbles: Cellulose extraction thimbles and Glass Fiber extraction thimbles. The all-sided product types can meet most customer requirements.
Cellulose Extraction Thimbles
Cellulose Extraction Thimbles are manufactured from high alpha cellulose and have excellent mechanical strength and retention, the high purity of the material gives reliable and reproducible analytical results, it is suitable for Soxhlet-type, Tecator-type or similar devices, to extract certain components out of solid material with an appropriate solvent.
Features
- Made of high grade alpha cellulose without any binding elements, which will guarantees reliable and replicable experiment results
- Wide selection of size, consistent wall thickness, and smooth interior surface
- Superior mechanical strength and retention ability
- Consistent high porosity ensures fast flow through
- High fitting accuracy for all available extraction systems
- DOP Retention(% @0.3) is 99.8%, and the maximum temperature is 100 ℃
Application
- Fat determination of meat and dairy products
- Determination of PCB in fish products
- Determination of free fats in food products
- Determination of pesticide residues in food products
- Extraction of plasticizers from PVC
- Determination of organic compounds in washing agents
- Extraction of additives from livestock feed
- Extraction of dioxins
- Solid particle such as dust collection in air flows
- Evaluation of liquid content in concrete slurry
Glass Fiber Extraction Thimbles
Glass Fiber extraction thimbles are manufactured from high purity borosilicate glass fibers, completely free of binders or additives, they can be used at temperatures up to 500°C (932°F) or when using solvents incompatible with cellulose thimbles, It is widely used in air and waste gas analysis for collecting solid particles (dust).
